IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert Across Several Indian States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh warnings as the southwest monsoon continues to intensify across the country. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and parts of Delhi-NCR. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious due to the possibility of waterlogging, traffic disruptions, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Delhi-NCR received heavy rainfall today, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert for the next two days. In Mumbai, while train services are operating normally, officials have warned that intermittent heavy showers may continue. Local administrations are monitoring flood-prone areas and emergency teams have been placed on standby. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and to follow official weather advisories. The active monsoon system is expected to bring widespread rainfall across much of India over the coming days, benefiting agriculture while also increasing the risk of localized flooding in vulnerable regions.
