The Taliban’s Ministry for the Prevention of Vice and Propagation of Virtue has dismissed more than 280 members of the security force for not growing beards, officials announced on Tuesday.
Annual Operations Update
The ministry’s annual report disclosed that over the past year, more than 13,000 people in Afghanistan were detained for “immoral acts.” Of those detained, around half were released within 24 hours.
Additional Actions
Mohibullah Mokhlis, Director of Planning and Legislation at the ministry, reported the destruction of 21,328 musical instruments over the year. The ministry also intervened to prevent thousands of computer operators from selling “immoral and unethical” films in markets.
