Renowned South Indian playback singer Uma Ramanan has passed away at the age of 72. She was widely recognized for her significant contributions to Tamil music, having collaborated extensively with the esteemed composer Illaiyaraaja. Her rendition of ‘Poongathave Thaal Thiravai’ in the movie ‘Nizhalgal’ propelled her to fame. Throughout a career spanning over three decades, she mesmerized audiences with her vocal talent in more than 6,000 concerts. In addition to her association with Illaiyaraaja, she worked with other celebrated composers like Vidyasagar, Mani Sharma, and Deva. The cause of her passing has not been disclosed yet.
